HAWAII DESIGNS is a graphic design firm located on the Hawaiian island of Moloka'i

James Temple is the owner and Design Director of HAWAII DESIGNS. Over the past 17 years James has brought his design skills to the Hawaiian island of Moloka'i.

James graduated from Art Center Collage of Design in Los Angeles California with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in illustration. During the first part of his career in Chicago, he illustrated books, magazine covers, and advertising storyboards, winning many awards including an award from the Society of Illustrators in New York. His illustration talent led him to a career in advertising art direction. He went on to be a creative team leader for major national and international brands including Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, Kraft Foods, Clorox, Hunt Wesson, and worked for advertising agencies such as J. Walter Thompson, N.W. Ayre, Grey and Ketchum.

In addition to creating national print campaigns, he art directed television commercials and consumer packaging design, winning a Clio award for the latter. He was also Design Director for Artemis Creative, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA, responsible for overall project management, strategy, budgets, planning and execution of award winning work specializing in bioscience and other advanced technology companies. 

His life long passion for cooking led him to a degree in the Culinary Arts, graduating with an Associate of Occupational Studies in Le Cordon Bleu, from the San Francisco Culinary Academy. In 2002, James moved to Hawaii to work in the food service industry. He also took up photography as a hobby. His photographs are now sold all over the world through his Fine Art America website. James has designed and self-published three cookbooks in Hawaii, using his recipes, photographs, and illustrations, and is currently publishing a food blog full of tropical recipes at www.tastinghawaii.com.
